The use of medicines has increased in humans and animals and is responsible for drug contamination (pharmacopollution), especially in aquatic wastewater collection systems. Doctors are key in the use of medicines and there is little information about their knowledge, attitude and practice regarding pharmacopollution. This study, recently carried out by the College of Physicians of Spain, concludes that there is a great lack of knowledge on the subject among doctors and that training must be increased.
