The UEU (Udako Euskal Unibertsitatea or Basque Summer University, www.ueu.eus) is pleased to announce IkerGazte, the First Conference For Basque Researchers, which will be held in Durango, Basque Country, between May 13 and 15, 2015.

The number of Basque researchers is constantly increasing. Nowadays, forefront research is carried out in the Basque Country in all areas of knowledge: Arts & Humanities, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, Technology and Architecture and Health Sciences.

UEU is an open organization whose main goal is to normalize and to extend the use of Basque language through coordination of academics, researchers and students within this aim. Taking advantage of our experience in organizing meetings for professionals and researchers in specific areas, on this occasion we want to take a step forward and meet a new challenge: to gather researchers in all areas of knowledge so to offer participants a broad view on the research that is carried out in our country. We want to meet young Basque researchers who want to publish and explain their research in Basque; we are aiming at late predoctoral and early postdoctoral researchers.

For the conference opening we will count on an internationally renowned speaker. Regular sessions will include selected papers which will be presented as oral communications or posters. In order to promote interdisciplinary discussion among attendees, several workshops will be included in the program. In addition, various cultural activities will be organized in Durango during the conference. It will be possible to sleep over in Durango and we encourage attendees to do so.

The Organizing Committee encourages Basque researchers to submit original research papers on their related area. Articles must be written in Basque. For instance, the results from a research project or the conclusions from a PhD would fit well in the scope of the conference.

Selected papers will be published as digital proceedings with ISBN. Longer versions of some of the presented papers will be proposed for publication in specialized Basque scientific journals.
